The valleys and mountains around Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa are full of craftsmen
that produce beautiful handmade crafts and art objects, and quaint galleries and
shops that display and sell these works.
It seems that every time we go out to explore the region around us we
almost always find another great artisan gallery.
We recently visited Glass Mountain Gallery, a very cool
working glass studio and gallery housed in an old general store, only 5 miles
from Lucille’s in the Robertstown community.
We were dazzled by the beautiful bowls, vases, platters and Christmas ornaments
they make in their on-site glass studio.
We couldn’t resist, so of course there is a beautiful new handmade glass
bowl on display in Lucille’s china cabinet.  We regularly send guests to Glass Mountain, as
well as pottery studios like Hickory Flat Pottery and Mark of the Potter, where
we have found several beautiful and useful pieces that we use around the
inn. Every time I go into Shapiro’s
Gallery in the Village of Sautee I try on one of their handmade watches (Santa,
if you’re reading this I like the ones with the square faces) and Lucille’s folk-art
bird house collection from Soque ArtWorks is starting to look like an eclectic little
housing development for birds. InsideOut
Sautee has a wide variety of handcrafted metal, wood and glass art, as well as
oil paintings. Elfmade Wooden Toys produces
delightful old-school wooden toys that bring back lots of childhood memories. Greenstone Soap Company makes wonderful handcrafted
soaps and lotions. The Burton Gallery represents
many outstanding local artists and has a great selection of fine art oil
paintings. Shotgun Annie’s, one of the
newest shops in the Village of Sautee, carries hand painted and hand-crafted furniture. All of these great sources of handmade art
are conveniently located near Lucille’s.

This year we’ve decided to give handmade gifts
to those we love for the holidays. Art
objects and functional pieces crafted locally by hand that are one-of-a-kind
and reflect the originality of our friends and family. If you want more information on any of the unique
artisans or galleries that we’ve discovered in and around Sautee Nacoochee take a look at the Arts page on our website or just
give us a call. We’ll be glad to tell
you about our favorites and, if you would like to plan a getaway to discover these
gems for yourself, we’ll be glad to help you with a reservation at Lucille’s
Mountain Top Inn & Spa and plan an itinerary.
