Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa recently had the pleasure of hosting our local Village of Sautee Business Association’s 2013 planning meeting in our conference room. Our group of about 20 spent an afternoon working through initiatives for the year and designating sub-teams to work on them throughout the year. It was a great session and we all came away a little overwhelmed with what we want to accomplish, but a bit relieved that we now have a plan to make those things happen.
That meeting reminded me of my twenty plus years in various corporate jobs, where every year we would go off-site for a team meeting for a few days to plan for the year. Over the years I sat through and led countless meetings in drab and uncomfortable hotel meeting rooms. And, to make it worse, most those meeting rooms were on the interior of a lower floor, providing no windows but lots of noise from the hotel kitchen. And the food was usually just mediocre, mass produced hotel fare. I have had more than enough toaster bagels and cream cheese danish for an entire lifetime.
But last week I was also reminded of how much better we do meetings here at Lucille’s. Our conference room is bright, open and has plentiful windows that look out over the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our breakfast is made from scratch and is two or three courses, including fresh fruits, savory egg dishes and hearty breakfast meats like thick sliced Applewood bacon. Our caterer prepares only fresh, creative dishes for lunch and dinner, served in Lucille’s dining room with panoramic mountain views. And our guest rooms are plush, comfortable and oh-so relaxing. I only wish I had spent more time over those years in a place like Lucille’s.
