The kitchen at Bernie’s Restaurant is always an interesting place to visit. There you might find the two co-chefs, Bernie and her daughter Monda, putting together a dish using the freshest local ingredients, or they might be putting the finishing touches on a homemade sauce or one of their mouth watering signature dishes. Bernie has been at the helm of the restaurant that bears her name for almost 25 years, while Monda is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and brings her own unique panache to the table.  Bernie’s Restaurant has been a Sautee Nacoochee area favorite since 1989, with both locals and the many visitors to our area.
The subtle blending of French and Italian cuisines with a dash of Southern-style flavors, the menu at Bernie’s is as unique as the restaurant itself. The Steak au Poivre, a long-time favorite, is a succulent and perfectly seared cut of the finest Black Angus beef you will find anywhere, cooked to order. The veal and chicken Picatta and Marsala are always on the dinner menu, with each sauce being memorable and unique without drowning out the other subtle flavors of the dishes.  The lunch menu is equally inviting and features wonderfully fresh seasonal salads, sandwiches and entrees such as the Maryland Crab Cakes drizzled with dill aioli and classic French Dip.
