| Grape Vines Sprouting in Early Spring |
With two winter snows behind us, we’re already looking ahead to spring here in the North Georgia mountains! As in years past, to help kick off spring in the mountains the Winegrowers Association of Georgia will be hosting their annual Spring Wine Highway Weekend. With the growing status of Georgia wines this event has become very popular in recent years. To allow participants to enjoy even more wineries this year the event will be held over two weekends, March 22nd-23rd and March 29th-30th, 2014.
The expanded format this year allows wine enthusiasts the time to leisurely explore the participating wineries in the expanding wine country of North Georgia. Fourteen Georgia wineries will be participating this year in the Spring Wine Highway Weekend, including local favorites Sautee Nacoochee Vineyards, The Cottage Vineyards & Winery, Habersham Winery, Serenity Cellars and Yonah Mountain Vineyards.
Plan now to visit North Georgia’s wineries during this festive event and get ready to enjoy the release of new wines and some of your local favorites. Plan now by marking your calendar and booking your reservations with Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa, March 21st-23rd or March 28th-30th. On any of the Wine Highway Weekend dates you can purchase your $30 passport from any of the fourteen participating wineries. Your passport will get you a tasting at each participating winery and comes with a souvenir wine glass. Tasting room hours are from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday both weekends. Be sure to checkout the Winegrowers Association of Georgia’s website for more details!
Spring weekends in the North Georgia mountains are also a great time to check out our many casual and fine dining restaurants, sure to prepare their finest menus to pair with our wonderful North Georgia wines. Merchants in the Village of Sautee and the Nacoochee Village will also be anticipating your visit with lots of new merchandise and fresh selections of local art, handcrafted pieces, antiques, scents and soaps, jewelry and more.
If you are not available to participate in the Wine Highway Weekends, but are available to visit the area March 8, 2014, don’t forget that Yonah Mountain Vineyard’s will be celebrating the Grand Opening of their new tasting room and event facility in nearby Cleveland, Georgia on that day. We’re sure you’ll love the unique décor and fine art, along with many new indoor and outdoor features, plus the release of Yonah Mountain’s exclusive new wines. There are sure to be some pleasant surprises ahead for those of you who have been a guest of the Yonah Mountain tasting room here in the Village of Sautee or a visitor at their annual Crush Fest in past years.
We’ve got many improvements and renovations underway at both the Inn and the Spa, including the addition of a beautiful, romantic suite to be completed just in time for another beautiful spring season here in the North Georgia Mountains.
