The Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia are well known for various artisans, folk art, and hand thrown pottery. Local creative arts can be found year round in the galleries and shops in the Village of Sautee near Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa, as well as in nearby Clarkesville and Clayton, but each spring and fall The Northeast Georgia Art Tour shines a spotlight on the finest artists of the region.  This year’s spring Northeast Georgia Arts Tour will take place Friday, June 13, 2014 through Sunday, June 15, 2014.
Over 100 local artists, painters, potters, jewelry makers, wood carvers, gourd artisans, fiber, glass, and metal artists will be demonstrating their crafts during the tour. Guests will find plenty of handmade art for viewing and purchase, as well as the opportunity to register at all the tour stops for a chance to win theater tickets, restaurant gift certificates and an original oil painting.
The Arts Tour takes you through some of the most beautiful country in the Georgia mountains. Our favorite route from Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn & Spa is Scenic Hwy. 197, following beautiful Hwy. 255 out of Sautee with a stop at the Sautee Nacoochee Center, then on to Batesville. Several nationally known pottery galleries are located on Hwy. 197, as well as Burton Gallery, which is loaded with a variety of fine art. You can continue through nearby Rabun County, home of beautiful Lakes Burton, Rabun and Seed, on a drive dotted with several folk art studios and Timpson’s Creek Gallery on Hwy. 76, leading into the historic town of Clayton.
