Step inside Soque Artworks and you will find the unique art of over 100 local and regional Appalachian artists beautifully displayed. Located right on the square in historic Clarkesville, Georgia, Soque Artworks is the quintessential main street art gallery with a distinctly Appalachian feel. Named after the nearby Soque River, the gallery carries works in more than 25 different art mediums ranging from pottery, turned wood and metal to jewelry, fiber, paintings and photography, all available for purchase.
No two trips to Soque Artworks are ever the same, with the inventory provided by local and regional artists changing frequently. Locally owned and operated since 2008, Soque Artworks has a reputation of attracting the work of noted mountain artists and is well known by collectors as far away as New York. Folk art is one of the gallery’s prominent styles, available in a variety of mediums. The Gazebo Garden at Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn and Spa is graced with several of their folk art bird houses (pictured here), which have been popular both with small birds and amateur photographers visiting the inn.
However, for the more serious collector of fine art, Soque Artworks represents artists worthy of display in the finest homes and commercial spaces. Some of the recent art glass pieces and paintings on display are outstanding. A member of the Scenic 197 Arts and Business Association, and the Northeast Georgia Arts Tour, Soque Artworks promotes some of the finest, eclectic work from members of the Southern Highlands Craft Guild, other prestigious art organizations and from the instructors of the nearby John C. Campbell Folk School.
This is a “must see” gallery on your next visit to Lucille’s Mountain Top Inn and Spa. Soque Artworks is open year-round, Tuesdays-Saturdays from 10:00am until 6:00pm. You can also preview current artwork in the gallery before you go at Soque Artworks website.
