Combine toe-tapping music with delicious flaky biscuits and you’ve got the recipe for one great event. The 3rd Annual Blue Ribbon Biscuit and Bluegrass Festival is coming back to Sautee Nacoochee, and for all of us who love both of these Southern-born items, it’s a wonderful day.
The event is sponsored by the Mt. Yonah Animal Hospital and will take place on the lawn of the Sautee Nacoochee Center, weather permitting. (Otherwise, it will be in the Historic Gym and Community Hall.) Bring you chairs or blankets and enjoy hot homemade biscuits served with local jams and jellies while you listen to tunes from some of the area’s favorite bluegrass bands. Returning for another year is the The Freight Hoppers, a talented four-piece string band presenting Old Time music in a fresh new way. Other regional acts include Elliott Sperin, a young man with an old soul; and the all-girl band, Good in the Kitchen, .
In addition to tasty food and music, the free event will have homemade pickles and pie contests, scavenger hunts, zucchini races, raffles, local vendors and more. For those who can’t be sustained on biscuits alone, lunch will be served in the Center’s Community Hall.
