Rumor Hazit is definitely not what you would expect to find in the cute mountain town of Clayton, Georgia. But that is just why you need to go there. That, and the good food, and the fact it’s open on Mondays—oh, and the bathrooms!
It takes guts to be an island-themed restaurant in a mountain town, but Rumor Hazit makes it work. The beachy setting sets the mood and makes for a pleasant atmosphere, with colorful murals and some good ol’ Southern hospitality. True to its theme, fresh seafood is a specialty. Fish Tacos are a personal favorite, but the menu offers a good range of options, such as blackened redfish with creamy grits, shrimp and grits, and a rich and comforting crab mac and cheese. Non-fish dishes include several chicken entrees, steaks, sandwiches, and salads.
Rumor Hazit has a nice bar area too, perfect for nursing a drink and enjoying one of the many appetizers, including seafood choices of calamari and crab cakes.
While restrooms are not normally a highpoint for a restaurant, the ones at Rumor Hazit are worth a visit. Excuse yourself from the table and check them out!
