Clyde’s Tavern & Table in Cleveland is named for the owner’s lovable English setter and if he had anything to say about the place, he’d be vigorously wagging his tail in approval.
Cleveland is just an 8-mile drive from Lucille’s, and you’ll find Clyde’s right smack in the heart of the historic downtown. The restaurant is a cozy space that expands onto the back porch on nice days. Because of its size, there’s often a small wait, so just grab a stool in the cool bar area and enjoy one of the interesting craft cocktails.
The warm and friendly atmosphere and knowledgeable staff set the perfect tone for Clyde’s menu—Southern-style comfort foods served with a unique gourmet twist. One shining example, shrimp and Andouille sausage mac and cheese, a creamy, super satisfying dish. Other main course options include a delicious pork chop, prepared with a coffee rub or a jalapeno honey glaze; and Korean BBQ salmon. Clyde’s extensive menu is impressive for such a compact place, and includes a range of burgers, mac and cheeses, fish and meats, salads and soup. Appetizers are equally creative. (We’re particularly fond of the yummy avocado fries served with a sirachi-based sauce.)
If you have a sweet tooth, don’t skip dessert! Clyde’s bourbon pecan pie, topped with ice cream and bourbon caramel sauce, is a sublime rendition of this Southern standard.
Clyde’s is also a good bet for lunch, serving a great selection of hearty sandwiches, macaroni dishes, burgers and more.
