Dive Into History
We’ve explored many of the benefits of small community theaters in our earlier post about the Habersham Community Theater in Clarkesville, GA. This 2020 season will be full of entertaining performances, both lighthearted and serious. Their next major production will be “Number the Stars,” based on the Newberry award-winning novel by Lois Lowry.
Number the Stars takes place during World War II and follows the story of two ten-year-old friends, Annemarie Johansen and Ellen Rosen, both living in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ellen and her family are Jewish and are under threat during the German occupation of the area. Both of the girl’s families face harrowing circumstances in their quest to protect themselves and their Jewish friends and family from the Nazi onslaught. Will their determination, ingenuity, and quick-thinking be enough to keep their loved ones safe? Follow this stirring saga as it presents a realistic rendering of this pivotal historical time period.
