Grab your waders and your fishing rods! The 2020 Helen Trout Tournament is coming to the alpine village again this year, and it’s sure to be a great time! Any and all anglers with a valid Georgia fishing license that has a trout stamp are eligible to enter this tournament.

Time: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Entry fee: $20
Event Boundaries: From the river access area on Escowee Street, downstream through Helen, to the first Brucken Strausse bridge at Cool River Tubing
The Helen Chamber of Commerce will stock the Chattahoochee River with over 400 pounds of trout for this event, and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources will continue stocking the river as the day goes on. There are cash prizes offered to specially tagged fish:
- First Place — $1,000 fish sponsored by Craig’s Remodeling and Repair
- Second Place — $500 “Milton Davis” fish sponsored by the Helen Chamber of Commerce
- Third Place — $300 sponsored by “Tim’s Wooden Toys”
- $50 for each of the next 25 tagged trout
- $25 for the remainder of the tagged trout
